Disciplines in preperation for camera flying

Recommended Posts

Hey,

Now I may sound like an over keen newbie, BUT.... ;)

I have always had an interest in video/photography and have started skydiving this year. Nothing would be more fun than making some nice movies for people and maybe make a few pounds too.

As well as camera flying I am kind of interested in getting into freefly.

What I really want to know is, in order for someone to progress quickly and have the skills required for camera work what sort of discipline should I work on. I guess - what makes a good photographer/video guy. ie someone with good belly skills like FS work or someone who can really fly there body like FF.

Sorry if this is a repost, I imagine this is a fairly typical first enquiry.

Thanks!

Sam :)

If you can think of it, you need to be good at it to film it.

Remember, filming involes you being relative to whatever you are filming, plus being able to manuver yourself to get the best shots.

Also, your cameras will be on your head for the entire jump (you hope). You should be skilled at tracking, and good with your canopy skills as well before adding a camera.

Plan on three years of hard work, and plan on making about $100 (after you pay for your cameras and all of your practice jumps).

my recommendation....be proficient on your belly, back, feet, and head.......there are all kinds of shots you can get and diffrent angles aswell......just cause someone is belly flying dosent mean you have to....if your proficient on your back......carving around the outside is a good shot and some of the below shots are awsome.
