Im 5'6 female 12 stone by the way Teardrop 2 pin classic - - 300 jumps, Navy blue cordura with pink bits, BOC, hook knife, Medium harness. ZP exe 170- Brand New - Black, purpleand turquoise. Micro 150 reserve - no jumps. Cypres - Brand new Price £2094 OR Teardrop SF, 250 jumps. Spectre 190 main, Techno 155 reserve, 0 jumps. Cypres, collapsible p/chute, retractible slider, BOC, hip rings, hook knife. £1,800 the cypress needs a service in september-anyone know what the price is in £ of a cypress AAD service and how long it takes till u get it back? cheers AB [:) Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
trigger 0 #2 May 6, 2003 I would wait a while and don't just limit your options to TSequipment.[Whatever you eventually decide to buy,your right in consulting with your instructor/rigger as to suitability.i.e harness size as well as type/size of main and reserve canopy[Final note try to buy a container that is freefly friendly even if you don't intend to take up freeflying [note: not the 2pin classic].CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER. SkydiveMonkey 0 #4 May 6, 2003 If you plan on freeflying, don't go for option 1. I got a superfly and it's a nice rig, but I don't really rate the older teardrops. I'm not a fan of the exe either, I've jumped my friends a few times, and it's dropped me about 100 feet near to the ground for no reason before. vt1977 0 #5 May 6, 2003 As Trig says, you are right to get any equipment you are thinking of buying checked out by your rigger/an instructor and to haggle on price! I seem to remember someone saying recently that they had paid £150 for a Cypres service with new batteries but again your rigger should be able to clarify this for you. You don't say how many jumps you have or what you are flying at the moment but that is obviously a consideration. Another thing to think about is the size of the reserve - think about how comfortable you would feel landing the reserve of any kit you are thinking of buying. I also recommend finding out what the maximum recommended suspended weight is for that reserve - again your rigger should be able to help with all of this. BBKid 0 #6 May 6, 2003 I'm not sure but I think a guy at my DZ (peterlee) may have bought option 1 already! My, how we ripped into him when we saw the pink! Basically, what everyone else said, 2 pin teardrops need a lot of modification to make them FF friendly, and since option 2 is cheaper (even with Cypres service), I'd go for that. riggerrob 643 #7 May 6, 2003 Answer: whichever rig your local rigger prefers. Make damn sure your rigger likes two-pin Teardrops before you put down any money. Some riggers detest two-pin Pop-Tops. Some of the younger riggers in Canada never bother to get signed off to pack two-pin containers, much less two-pin Pop-Tops. Why I remember a rigger telling his girlfriend "sure you can buy a Racer, but you will have to ship it out of province to get it repacked." On the other hand, the Teardrop Superfly is the easiest of all Pop-Tops to pack. If I sound biased against Pop-Tops, well I am. It took me ten years and a bunch of trashed tools before I got any good at packing Pop-Tops. The process never made sense to me until I invented a new tool. My rigger does not mind them and does not charge me extra - they look great and launch better than any other rig I have witnessed. It must be all about training......
