tetra316 0 #1 December 18, 2005 I'm looking to buy this and a wide angle lense. What do you think of a package like this? Or would it be cheaper to buy the camera and lense seperately? I just started looking and don't know how much the lenses runs. http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-DCR-HC32-DIGITAL-CAMCORDER-SUPERIOR-PLUS-KIT-NEW_W0QQitemZ7572109476QQcategoryZ20333QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Miami 0 #2 December 19, 2005 Definitely go separate. You should be able to find a camera, cheapo lens, spare battery, and tapes for about a $150 less. Rest of the stuff in that auction is pretty much worthless, not to mention the battery included in it is an off brand POS most likely...and a camera coming out of NY runs a risk of being grey...not a factor for its function but a factor if you need it repaired under warranty. Hope this helps...Miami
Dumpster 0 #3 December 19, 2005 There's a popular seller on Ebay on a regular basis - Tradeport USA - I purchased my HC30 from them (it was a demo unit-) Description said it didn't have the memory card with it, and it was just the camera, and the regular accesories, (cables charger, etc-) Purchased it for about 300 bones - When the package arrived I was pleased to find it did have memory card, plus a second Sony battery! Also had the opportunity to purchase an extended warrenty for about 25 bucks. Not a shabby deal at all. I would reccomend skipping the package deal - Like Miami said, most of that stuff you won't use. Easy Does It
tetra316 0 #4 December 19, 2005 Do you know much about the HC32 vs the 42? I heard that with the 42 you have to used a docking station in order to play back video to your tv. But with the 32 you can play directly to the tv. Still polishing my technical terms so I couldn't tell the difference looking at the specs. They say they both come with a docking station with the av input/output on the docking station. What does this mean?
mikkey 0 #5 December 19, 2005 I just bought a 42. I use the docking station at my PC - connected to power and the PC via USB and put the camera in it for data transfer and recharge. You can connect from the camera directly to TV, recharger etc. It has all the ports build in except USB. So no problem.--------------------------------------------------------- When people look like ants - pull. When ants look like people - pray.

Previous models(30,40) did not require it. Some people find the docking station to be an added incumberance, but the latest models seem to be going to this. I see it as meaning less mass on the Camera, less mass on your noggin. The differences between 32 and 42 are slightly better quality from the 42 and ability to shoot in wide format. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=365870&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation
MarkM 0 #7 December 20, 2005 I'd buy them seperately. If you're going to buy a new brand camera, I'd probably buy from http://www.dbuys.com/Product_list/?000006 or a local store before buying off of ebay. If you're buying off of ebay, you might as well bargain hunt and get last year's model used (HC20, HC30 or HC40) and save some money.
