goobersnuftda 0 #1 December 29, 2005 Instead of buying a bunch of these: Extreme III 1GB CF card Why not buy one of these one touch portable storage units: Wolverene 40GB You could shoot all day in RAW until the cows come home.
ScottyInAus 0 #2 December 29, 2005 Can't see a real problem with it as long as; Your card is compatible Compatible Memory Cards CompactFlash (type I & II)/MicroDrive SmartMedia Memory Stick Memory Stick PRO Secure Digital MultiMediaCard xD-Picture Card (which I would assume it is) As long as it works without a PC, which it seems to. So yer looks reasonably good, just a quality and reliability question now. Cheers, Jason.

goobersnuftda 0 #6 December 29, 2005 Click on the features tab: Wolverene 40 GB I'm going on a couple of trips soon, one of them being a skydiving trip. A 8 MP camera will take 3 MB file sizes at full resolution so I think 13,000 pictures for storage should do me. Shooting in RAW would be 17 MB/picture so I think I will back off on that This is the smallest version, they go right up to 100 GB. I have been on cruise ships and have seen the raping-and-pillaging of people for extra on board income. $35 to "set up your account" on their computer then $20/CD to burn your images. One time burn, no culimative burning projects. Analog wife and I got back from Vegas last month. She bought $21 on film for her camera and $45 on developing when we got back. (I loved the 2 trips to the photomart to pick it up.....special). Half the dark pictures didn't turn out and they are now sitting in a box in a closet. I would rather put out some $$$ upfront and save a ton of money in the end. The deal is, we will "share" a new DSLR. Sure. Can't wait until this thing is mounted on the top of my helmet and she is going to the Lake the same weekend with family. 7 AM Saturday morning in the summer and I'm out of the house heading for the DZ before she wakes up.. And would you look at that....someone turned off my cell phone....how did that happen? ============================== With the Wolverine FlashPac, you can take thousands of photos with a single memory card. PhreeZone 20 #7 December 29, 2005 They make an adapter to do the same to an iPod photo if you wanted to go that route. Plus that way you could pick up the MP3 player the rest of the time.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

murrays 0 #9 December 30, 2005 QuoteThey make an adapter to do the same to an iPod photo if you wanted to go that route. Plus that way you could pick up the MP3 player the rest of the time. Now, all new hard drive iPods do photos, video, etc. The iPod Photo designation doesn't apply anymore. The nano will display photos but it resizes them smaller for the nano display and to save space. the iPod photo connector uses the camera's USB cable to connect so if you have a USB 1.1 camera the transfer rate will be slowwwwwww. A USB 2 camera should transfer real fast. iPods sync the photos as soon as they are connected again to a computer ... you get a few choices on a Windows machine, on a Mac it just syncs to iphoto automatically. Every time you connect your iPod to your computer your photo directory and the iPod are synced...a perfect backup immediately. Great feature. When I get around to buying one of the new ones it will be nice to always have the photos backed up. But, my 3 year old 20gb 2nd gen iPod just keeps on working.-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Burke, as the owner of a 2nd gen ipod that is smaller than the Wolverene which measures 5.1 x 3.1 x 1.2 inches according to the website I think that the Wolverene would be a pain in the behind to use as an mp3 player. Too big. I wish my iPod were smaller for carrying around and listening to music. The new iPods are far smaller: 30 gb 4.1 x 2.4 x 0.43 inches 60 gb 4.1 x 2.4 x 0.55 inches (1/2 as thick as the Wolverene) Price - I paid $799 CAD for my 20gb 3 years ago and now the 60gb iPod is $499 CAD...cheap like borscht. Anyway, whatever you buy, pick up a pair or two of these to replace whatever headphones you get. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
