gravitator1 0 #1 January 2, 2006 Does anybody have any experience with the 10 Megapixel Sony DSC-R1 stills camera? It seems a good altenative to the D-SLR's with a wired remote, manual focus and a lens that will go as wide a 24mm (35mm equivalent) & optional wide angle lens converters that can make it even wider than that........ Check it out at:http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=DSCR1&Dept=cameras&CategoryName=dcc_DIDigitalCameras_CybershotProDigitalCameras
mr2mk1g 10 #2 January 3, 2006 I had a look at it this weekend. It looks like a nice camera but it only shoots 3 frames before the buffer is full (assuming the blurb on it is talking about JPEG of course and not RAW). On the plus side though it does appear to take the same battery as my Sony DV (NP50) so many camera flyers will already have spares for it.
gravitator1 0 #3 January 3, 2006 I've read this review:http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/sony/dsc_r1-review/index.shtml and about halfway through it says: QuoteShot-to-shot times were comparable to those from a digital SLR: you can shoot as fast as you can compose. I kept shooting at the highest JPEG quality setting and never had to wait for the buffer to clear. That's not the case when shooting in RAW mode, though. The first shot went through okay, but after I took the second a progress bar appeared and I had to wait about six seconds before I could take the next shot. So it seems although you can only shoot three shots in burst mode before the buffer is full, that it doesn't take that long for the buffer to clear to resume taking shots. Does anybody have an idea if this is correct?
