EXTremeWade 0 #1 January 9, 2006 Hey everyone, I have been seriously looking into a Rawa camera, and just wanted to see if anyone has had good/bad/ experioences or advice they can give me before I go get one myself..Yeah I do understand that they are camera specific, but besides that.. thanks people
mattjw916 2 #2 January 10, 2006 I have a new Rawa/PC1000 setup. With only 30 jumps on it so far here's my initial impression: -very secure -has essentially no snag points -extremely light weight -left-ear audible pocket is too small for an Optima (it pushes on my ear uncomfortably) -hex-key bolt on bottom of camera box is annoying but secure -very slick, low drag helmet that's great for freeflying I bought mine from Aerostore and it was delivered ahead of schedule without any drama. Excellent service. Do a search for more info.NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
LouDiamond 1 #3 January 10, 2006 Wade, if you do a search on this subject there is over 2 pages of relevant posts on RAWA helmets. Icon134 0 #4 January 10, 2006 I also have a RAWA... Not very many jumps on it at all (~10) Here are my thoughts... + Chin Cup seems quite secure. + It's a very smooth helmut... aka reducing the possibility of snagging. + Has a flat section on the top w/room for still camera. - It doesn't have space to mount a flash... - The D-box for the Camcorder is camera specific and not user changable. (makes me wonder what I'll do when I need/want to "upgrade" in the future) My 2 cents...Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
cj1150gs 0 #5 January 10, 2006 Mine arrived not long ago. Did about 20 jumps with it and it's great. Fits snug, very confortable and it's easy to put on/take off. Looks "unsnagable".It is indeed very lightweight. I think it's great value for the money. I ordered mine directly from Brasil and it arrived on schedule - smooth transaction. I ordered mine with a shutter release and a quick release mount for a stills camera but these turned out to be of much lesser quality than the helmet. The principle may well be the same. It is definitely a unique setup. Ed

If not do a search on "Post your camera helmet" and look for his post. This is a pix he posted before the flash. Perhaps he can tell you what he did to add the flash. Zenister 0 #13 January 13, 2006 I like my RAWA alot.. but when I compare the manufacturing details (hinges and latch in particular) to a friends FF2 the FF2 is clearly superior... (and more expensive as well) so you have to decide which is more important to you..____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. Winznut 0 #14 January 18, 2006 I've about 40-50 jumps on my RAWA/PC100 setup and like it alot. It's a bit tricky to add a cameye, but that's the only downside I noticed so far. It's very comfortable and cheaper than all the other cam-helmets. I ordered it form RAWA directly and they had a delivery time of only 2 weeks (from ordering until arrivale in Germany). If I ever need a new one, it would be a RAWA again for sure!
