PhreeZone 20 #1 January 30, 2006 How many people out there do promo videos at the start of their tandem videos? How long are they? Do you put them on just your DVD's or VHS also? Anyone have some examples they could post? (I've got lots of hosting room if you need a place to put them)Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Miami 0 #2 January 30, 2006 At my last dz we put a leader on every video, dvd or vhs. Each editing station had an extra simple dvd player with the leader dvd in it, we just played it into the recorder (through a panasonic video mixer) and faded to the camera at the end of the leader. Hope this helps...Miami
mattjw916 2 #3 January 30, 2006 Funair Video in Eloy has a standard leader that starts out every VHS and DVD tandem video IIRC. It's just a bunch of old freefall scenes that impress whuffos mostly before the ground interview portion of the video starts.NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
diablopilot 2 #4 January 30, 2006 At Perris (the last school I did video for) the VHS and DVD come supplied with a leader before we even edit. This is done on the DVD by using an RW- format.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. mwabd1 0 #5 January 30, 2006 I made one to go on all of my tandem and AFF video's. They go on both DVD and VHS, but I edit on my PC so its as easy as opening the project. Mine is about 1:20 long.
steveorino 7 #6 January 30, 2006 Here is ours: www.skydiveairtight.com/SDA-Promo-06A.wmv It is about 80 seconds long and it is on every student video. It is obviously geared toward them (AFFs & tandems). I do a new promo every 4-6 months or so. steveOrino

BSSA Promo Video Will be adjusting it soon for next season. Scott C."He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
steveorino 7 #8 January 31, 2006 My DZO requested I changed the music on ours. I guess the song, "Shout" was a little 60s. New promo with different footage is at: www.Xtreme-visuals.com/SDA-Promo-06C.wmv steveOrino
GraficO 0 #9 February 2, 2006 this is the little header I have for my vids... http://www.mercurygrafix.com/video/MG_intro.wmv It's fun but I think I'll put together something new for the 2006 Season GraficOGraficO "A Mind is a terrible thing to taste." steveorino 7 #10 February 2, 2006 THAT is one of the best promos I've seen. Very music video look. (worth stealing ideas from ) What program did you use? Some of it looks like FLASH. steveOrino
GraficO 0 #11 February 2, 2006 Steal away... I don't mind Built in Premiere... the animation was done in a cheapie 3D program and ouput to AVI and then edited into the rest. I've been using that for about 3 years now... but it needs a little revamping. If I could find the time outside of REAL work I'd build a new one. One of the best promo/intros I've seen is the one that Andrew Staich made for Skydive Elsinore a couple years ago... another was the one from Skydive Spaceland. There are some of my tandem vids at http://www.skydivenm.net/videogallery.htm At SNM we don't edit at the DZ since it's club run and no on-site equipment... so we take em home and edit em. They end up being a little tighter than running em strictly off a linear board. It's a hassle but I've gotten in-camera editing down to where there isn't much to screw with other than audio levels and burning to DVD. The ones at the bottom are more recent... I include a special "promo" at the end listing all my gear mfgs. and friends in the industry that also gives music credits for whatever I used in the vid... I have about 6 premade with different tunes depending on the "style" of the video. Thanks for the Kudos Steve... I really enjoy your cartoons BTW.
