Tracking pants + camera jacket

Recommended Posts

Any thoughts on using a combo of the above as a camera suit? I don't want to sacrifice forward drive but I also don't want to use a bootie suit.

(I'm specifically thinking of using the O2XS camera jacket + Birdman pants it it makes a difference to anyone).

Cheers

I use a medium wing camera jacket and Birdman pants with the wing attachment points bar tacked on the Pantz themselves for filming tandems. The set up works really well.

I was thinking about this a couple of years ago and bought Birdman Pantz and a Tony Suit camera jacket (rather expensive just for an experiment eh?). I can say that it "technically" works, but I can also tell you that it doesn't work even half as effectively as a a regular camera suit with booties.

The issue is the leg power. Birdman Pantz simply do NOT have the power of regular booties.

Depending on what type of camera flying you do, this may be an issue. I find it inadequate for competition 4-way.

Oh, and one side note on Birdman Pantz . . . will somebody else chime in here to confirm or deny this . . . MY Birdman Pantz seem to be cut really tight in the crotch. While this would be cool on a chick or even while just walking around the bar at night, with tightened leg straps "the boys" don't have a lot of room and it occasionally gets a little uncomfortable.

I have the opposite problem, I find myself mostly on my arm wings than my legs but then again I am filming Tandems and not 4 way.

Mine felt like that for a while when new but after wearing them a few times I haven't noticed it since.
