howardwhite 6 #1 April 3, 2006 In looking for good DVD-r blanks for inkjet labelling, I've come across "silver inkjet printble." The descriptions imply these give a special, some say "almost holographic," appearance to the labels. Any experience with them? Do they affect quality of recording surface? Brand name recommendations? HW
dragon2 2 #2 April 3, 2006 I did the Dutch Swoop Tour 2005 DVD on those (Ritek), I like ' em. Holographic, no, but they do look more professional imo. Same as with regular printables there are differences in how far the top layer goes, mine goes all the way to the hole but some others I've seen leave a big circle in the middle, doesn't look as nice imo. ciel bleu, Saskia

howardwhite 6 #4 April 3, 2006 QuoteHow many are you looking to print? Look at the link Lori (LtDiver) posted yesterday about her experience with Memerox. I'm making blanks for several folks, both DVD-R and CD. I have orders for about 300 total (~200 DVD and 100 CD). We tested Memorex over the weekend and they worked fine, but I'm leaning toward Maxell or Verbatim. I saw LtDiver's post. I'm burning mostly on Macs myself, but others will use a variety of pieces of stand-alone hardware. The interaction among all this stuff is mind-warping. I think I'll order a small number of two or three different brands and put them to the test. There are lots of less well-known names at lower prices, but I don't want to take a chance with them. Fuji -R seems to be okay so far. The link that I posted before (thanks for taking the time to read it, Phree) is a good starting reference. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
vidiot 0 #7 April 4, 2006 I have consistently good results with Verbatim, both -R and +R, both on a standalone DVD-Recorder and the DVD-writer built into my laptop. The top side is bright wide and covers the whole DVD without a major gap on the inside or outside. Printing is done with an Epson R-800 with the saturation increased in the printer driver, otherwise the colors look a little faint. My Logbook
