Digital Photography Hints and tips...?

Recommended Posts

Anyone know of any really good websites? I have been messing around with my new 20D (:)
So what i am asking in a roundabout way is what are the best resources for understanding the "digital" part of "digital photography"??

Thanks in advance!

Photography on the Net is a site dedicated to amateur and professional canon photography.

Also, shooting exclusively in RAW will give you way more control of adjustments on the computer.

Proper White Balance can be achieved by shooting a piece of White Paper or Board under the same lighting that your subject will be under and then setting your camera to reference that pic under the custom white balance settings (see manual for specific instructions). Custom White Balance settings are not critical when shooting in RAW, with a Flash, or in Freefall because you can adjust in Post Processing.

Thats exactly what i was after, thanks. I used to use the 18% grey cards way back but i thought we had moved on since then!!!
Not using it in freefall yet, just as my ground camera but i love it so far. It has replaced a long used and abused EOS RT

Shooting in RAW is by far the best way to go if you want good looking pictures and you have lots of time.

RAW provides more color depth and more data for post processing. What it lacks is an easy way to hand a customer a CD full of pictures. It is also slower because the files are bigger which sucks for freefall.

Oh well.
