ltdiver 3 #1 April 16, 2006 Well, I'm stumped. I posted this same message on the ecoustics forum to try and get some answers. I'll post it here too in hopes that I'll be educated on how to fix this aggravating hiccup with my new DVD Recorder. Here's what I wrote, if you don't want to click on the other forum link: Quote Anyone having challenges with smooth recording via firewire to their GX315? Here's the stats I've found on my new machine. When recording from my Sony TRV22 video camera (miniDV tape): Recording from: 1) Analogue---GX315 records great 2) S-Link---GX315 records great 3) iLink (firewire...iEEE1394) the recording is jerky...choppy....jumping...non-uniform for about the first 2 minutes, then it smoothes out and looks great. The sound also gets off track for that first couple of minutes. I've been chatting with Sony's Product Specialist about this. He's also stumped and asked that I send the unit in for a look-see. Instead, I went in to where I bought the unit and just swapped it out (perhaps I got a lemon?). Well, this new one has the exact same problem. Everything is good....except when I try to input via firewire. Any knowledgeable input is eagerly awaited. (almost bald here!) Help? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

ltdiver 3 #3 April 16, 2006 QuoteTry searching here Peace, Z Edit: Just another thought - Did you try another firewire cable? Yes, I bought another firewire -just- in case this was the issue. Sadly it wasn't. Nothing fixed. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

ltdiver 3 #5 April 19, 2006 Well, after days of researching the internet (discussion forums, etc), as well as talking with Product Specialists at Sony, I decided that nothing could be done to fix this obvious error on Sony's part. Faulty workmanship in their new product. (I had bought 3 different GX315's and they -all- had the same problem when importing via firewire). I took the last one back to where I bought it and found where I could get the older version (which, btw, has received raving reviews on the forums). The GX300. It doesn't have an iLink, but has all the others. Analogue (of course), S-Link, and Composite. It also has alot of other nice features that were left out of the GX315. The 300 also has a crisp picture on screen, something that the 315 lacked as well. Sony is coming out with a GX330 this month. I hope they've fixed the problems of the GX315 or I'd stay away from this one too! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
