freeflyfreak27 0 #1 April 28, 2006 Can anyone offer a suggestion for the type of wideangle lens I should purchase for my new Canon Digital Rebel XT? I will be using primarly for taking pictures of tandems. Thanks in advance!
Dokeman 0 #2 April 28, 2006 I really like my canon 10-22mm
stratostar 5 #3 April 28, 2006 15mm or 20mm would be worth looking at, it would depend on what you like and what you want to photos to look like. I use a sigma 20mm on my 20d. I could use a sigma 15mm to but don't have one. I like the fixed lens my self for FF. Icon134 0 #4 April 28, 2006 I haven't used it in the air... but its really nice on the ground... but I have a 17mm Tokina... (you can sometimes find them on E-bay...) Oh, and there has been a lot of discussion here about this... if the search function is back up and running you might give that a go... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... garywainwright 0 #5 April 28, 2006 I started off with a tokina ATX 17mm to try and save money. It was OK but not quite wide enough and i always felt the results were not quite as sharp as i would like. Then bought a zenitar 16mm (again trying to save money) and its actually OK and wide enough but i occasionally get some strange results with it. I then bought a canon ef 15mm which I love. Moral - i spent a lot of money trying to 'save' money! A friend gets very nice results with his sigma 15mm and i believe the 10 - 22mm canon zoom is also nice but i would rather have a prime lens for skydiving. hope this helps garyhttp://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk

stratostar 5 #7 April 28, 2006 If I was going to buy another lens I would get a canon or sigma 15mm, for the simple fact I know what the results will be with it. Good glass is not cheep and using cheap glass to try to save money will only cost you more in the long run. I have great results with my sigma 20mm even with the conversion factor, I don't have fly all that far away, it has a wide FOV IMHO, but it is a big ass lens and has some weight to it, but it's not that bad. mark135 0 #10 April 29, 2006 QuoteLike my Sigma 15mm Damn. never jumped a sigma but that drouge looks like a bunch of shit hanging out of the pouch. nothing like puting your side to the reletive wind, it's not like that is part of the process to get into a side spin or anything. great pic though!_______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"
