skyblu3 0 #1 May 16, 2006 I want to make a video to be used as a promo and I want it to run in a continuous loop. So when it finished it will automatically restart from the beginning. How can I go about doing this. Is there any editing software that supports this function?
howardwhite 6 #2 May 16, 2006 There are probably cheaper solutions, but DVD Studio Pro on a Mac can do this easily (along with lots of other cool things.) HW
dragon2 2 #3 May 16, 2006 I use Nero Vision Express and Adobe Encore DVD, both can do this. I suppose any dvd edit program that'll let you create timelines will be able to do this, just set the timeline endpoint to the starting point. ciel bleu, Saskia
skydiverjerry 0 #4 May 16, 2006 the dvd player you use has to support this function, rather like a cd player that has play options ie repeat song one or repeat all or loop until stoped. that what you mean if so several dvd players have the function right now i am using the pro sound st-9000 ps and it wearks welllife is a journey not to arrive at the grave in a pristine condition but to skid in sideways kicking and screaming, shouting "fuck me what a ride!. billo 0 #5 May 16, 2006 looping isn't so much a function of the video editing, as much as it is the dvd authoring. as in, looping is more a function of how your menus are set up and how the disc is programmed to behave, rather than just editing the video to be itself back-to-back ten times. (turning a 5 minute promo into a single 50 minute file) on PC i use DVD-lab pro for dvd authoring and it can set up loops and playlists quite easily. i know the pro and studio versions have this functionality, but not sure if the standard version can do this or not off the top of my head. dragon2 2 #6 May 16, 2006 If the DVD is single play (as most dvd's are), then you can make it loop with your dvd player. However if you create the DVD itself as a looping DVD, the hardware doesn't matter. ciel bleu, Saskia
DSE 5 #7 May 16, 2006 DVD Architect can do this, Encore 2.0, iDVD, DVD Studio Pro, Nero Digital/home, and Ulead DVD Workshop all perform this. It has little or nothing to do with the DVD player itself. Only very high end DVD players won't do this as they are usually T/C based. In your authoring app, simply set the video you want to loop with an end action that will fit back to itself. In DVD Studio Pro or Sony DVD Architect, set the desired video as the "First Play" video with nothing else there, and it will auto-end action to itself. If you want to post the app that you use, I'll gladly reply with specific instructions.
dragon2 2 #8 May 16, 2006 I just noticed that premiere pro 2 will let you export to a looping dvd too. ciel bleu, Saskia
