What should I buy for a lens??

Recommended Posts

I have recently purchased a PC-1000 and should be recieving a new FF2 helmet shortly.

I have searched around in here a bit and found that the diamond 0.3x seems to be popular.

I am just a fun jumper and want to get vid of others on the jump whether it be Free Flying or RW.

What do you all recomend??B|B|B|

Thanks for the help!!!

why better off with a .5???

.45 & .43 are a good balance of wide angle, yet very minor distortion.

.5 isn't really wide enough when your close to anyone.

Drew i have to agree with you on this. However, I started out with a .5 as well and things were fine. When i got better and started flying tighter, well the .5 just wasn't cutting it anymore. Then i had to buy a .42 I would tell newbies to just start with that one. It isn't like starting swooping with a velo96 so i feel a little more comfortable recommending it.:D

Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.

I'm comparing a .5 to a .3 I have only used the liquid5 which is .45 and I find spot on for my jump numbers. The Liquid3 is actually .29, I have tried one on my camera and you would need to keep very close to the subject for them not to appear small and insignificant in the vid!!:D I don't know how the dragon .3 (as jasonRose is considering) compares to the liquid3, Although I have heard there are significant differences between .3 and .5 from one manufacture and .3 and .5 from another. I still think any .3 lens is too wide angle for someone starting out. I would be interested to hear what others think....

I think the .3 is good for coaching and inside video, but not the best for all around video. (I use a .43 kenko lens... I like it, but I know it's not for everyone, especially paired with the 1000)

That and when you are doing anything else you can just zoom it in some and it works fine. My frist lens was a Diamond .3 and I am still using it. I shoot everything from RW, FF, and tandems with it.

Aha... I've always just set zoom to infinity and focus to manual. What you are saying is that a .3 zoomed in a bit and focus set to manual at that point is similsr to a .4 - .5 in which case, the .3 would give you greater flexibility and you don't need to carry a load of lenses about to do different stuff...... right?

I don't know what you mean by "zoom set to infinity" cause you can't zoom to infinity (You can focus to infinity though)

I just zoom it out all the way if I am doing something that I am holding onto the person and zoom it in a couple taps on the zoom for stuff where I am outside video.
