pilotdave 0 #1 June 13, 2006 Anyone modified their FF2 to make the dbox keep from slamming down when it's open? The door is pretty heavy compared to some other dboxes and has very little friction in the hinge, so when I'm holding the helmet and either filming with the camera's screen extended or playing back a video, I have to be really careful to hold the door open. I've had it slam down onto the LCD screen a few times and want to avoid that. I was thinking that either some kind of spring that holds it open or just adding friction to the hinge so it stays put would do the trick. Any ideas? Stumpy 284 #2 June 13, 2006 i can't remember how it sits, but how about a bit of velcro on the top of the door and a bit on top of the helmet?Never try to eat more than you can lift
pilotdave 0 #3 June 13, 2006 Thought about that... they don't quite touch but it's probably close enough. But that won't work after I add my brand spanking new still camera. Guess I could put some velcro on it too... Any other ideas? Dave

Basically, if you can take a spring that is about the same diameter as the pin in your hinge, you can pull the pin, put the spring in and give it a couple twists to give tension in the open position and then reinstall the pin. Now, not seening the kind of hinge that they use, it might not be possible, but you could always replace thier hinge with one that will work for your application. Make sense? Ok, its called a torsion spring, see attached. Maybe a mini locking lid stay... http://www.spdhardware.com/dc4.htm B. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
