Questions using Sony HD1 Sony HC3

Recommended Posts

We've flown the HC3 and A1u for at least 50 jumps at this point. If the HC3 is set up correctly, you shouldn't see any skip. The A1 should never have skip. A1 has bigger buffer. HC3 can skip if hit with extreme range and fast motion, and set for certain exposure modes. The GOP structure of HDV can cause this when coupled with a DSP hit.
I personally prefer the A1, the pieces we shot for TNT last week were all done with A1, but had one HC3 for comparison. Notable diff in chroma and luma management, but the HC3 is still arms and legs above any DV cam. Just be sure to set it up correctly. There is a review of the HC3 on the www.vasst.com site, but not as many pictures as I'd like to get in there.

Hi Spot

Are you using a wide angle on your A1?
I'm using the Raynox HD-5005Pro wide angle on my A1.

I have been using the A1 for about a month now, I’m very happy with it.

My HDV system is a Sony HVR-A1U, Sony HVR-M10 HDV VCR &
Sony 26” Bravia XBR LCD HDTV KDL-V26XBR1

From the A1 I use iLink 1080i 16:9 to the M10 then with Monster Component cables to the HDTV. The 1080i 16:9 picture is fantastic.
I wish I had HDMI from the M10 VCR to the HDTV. After I bought the M10 Sony comes out with the M25 with HDMI.

I bought both from B&H Photo Video http://www.bhphotovideo.com

On the B&H web site the Sony HVR-A1U is $2699.00
B&H # SOHVRA1U

After you add to the cart the final B&H price is $2499.95

Sony has a $500.00 rebate for the A1 until 9/30/2006
https://www.rebatezone.com/CurrentRebates.asp

Final Sony HVR-A1U price $1999.95

When I ordered from B&H I also included a business name on my order which was on the invoice for the A1.

When I sent the paper work for the Sony $500.00 rebate I had my business name on the invoice, which match the online pre-qualifying from. So I had no problems in receiving the A1 rebate.

$99.95

This lens comes with plastic 37mm to 37mm adaptor ring to mount the lens to the A1. I replaced the plastic adaptor with a metal one.

The filter size for this lens is 62mm

I also bought the Sony HVR-M10 HDV VCR from B&H which also has a Sony $400.00 rebate. I also received a full copy of Vegas 6 from Sony

Which has be replaced with the Sony HVR-M15 & HVR-M25 HDV VCR

The Sony 26” Bravia XBR LCD HDTV KDL-V26XBR1 I got from Circuit City
On sale
