dragon2 2 #2 October 16, 2006 To get "infinity" back, on the ground, autofocus on something far away, then switch to manual focus. Tape up the focus ring after doing this, if your camera has one. ciel bleu, Saskia
snafuhere 0 #3 October 17, 2006 let the camera focus on the ground on some subject 3-5 ft away and press manual focus switch you don't have to tape the focus ring, it's all electronic https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
dima39 1 #4 October 17, 2006 On mine Sony 350 i use manual focus to infinity (not auto focus). I can suggest to fix focus ring with big rubber band (same used for stowing lines on bag) and also cover NightSwitch with peace of Gaffer tape or Scotch. Clarkey 0 #5 October 17, 2006 If you follow Snafuhere's method, once you have hit the 'fix focus' button, you can then select any of the auto settings modes (Beach/Ski, Landscape etc) as normal. You won't need to secure the manual focus ring as it is inactive in fix focus mode, just tape over the night shot switch as mentioned!
dragon2 2 #6 October 17, 2006 Quote You won't need to secure the manual focus ring as it is inactive in fix focus mode If you accidently turn the focus ring a bit (never happened to me...) it changes the focus, since it is not FIXED focus but MANUAL focus, ie you use the focus ring to focus! So you do need to secure it with tape or a rubber band. ciel bleu, Saskia
Clarkey 0 #7 October 17, 2006 dragon2 is right - i use a 2KC helmet and the focus ring is inside the box with just the waycool lens sticking outside, so I've never had to worry about knocking the focus! it's in autofocus mode that the focus ring is inactive...
