Laszloimage 0 #1 January 4, 2007 Hi all, Recently we had a few discussions about how much should we charge for camera work. How much should we charge to dub a video, how much is the value of a camera jump, or the price for an 8x10 photo print. Friend of mine just sent me this link from the UK about freelancing rates. http://www.londonfreelance.org/feesguide/index.html I have to tell you we skydivers are kind of under paid. So if someone is bitching about the price of your work just please direct them to this site for an “eye opener. ” It will actually let them know they've been offered a very good deal... ( 1 British Pound is aprox. 1.9 US $ these days) Blue skies! -Laszlo- www.laszloimage.com

DSE 5 #5 January 4, 2007 Note that rate is in pounds sterling, not USD. 500 pounds is 970.00 USD per day. 250 pounds is 480.00 USD per day 125 pounds is 242.00 per day. (all rounded off to dollar) That's about right for non-big name shooters. It's also in addition to all/any media costs, generally T/L are not included in those rates. It's slightly higher than the US avg, but only slightly so.
jeiber 0 #6 January 4, 2007 If we all banded together and formed some kind of union or association, it would give us a firmer base to stand on. We could probably get a yearly discount at someplace like 'shutterfly', where we could just direct people to get their photos. Prices (and profit margin) would automatically be set online. Maybe work an equipment discount with some online retailer like B&H? Union of Freefall Photographers? Vidiots Association of America? I don't think it would be too tough to get set up. Then again, getting skydivers organized is like herding cats! JeffShhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!
freefalle 0 #7 January 4, 2007 Jeff, I think it would be a great idea, but as usual, you are going to have people undercutting the standard to make a buck. It would take a lot of organization but I agree it would be good for the masses.
