Iceburner 0 #1 February 2, 2007 Hey all, I'm currently working on building my custom d-box for my pc109. I'm just getting into fiberglass work, but when it's done (proly a week or so...i do have other work to do) i'm going to post pics to see any suggestions. I have everything pretty much worked out, but have questions on the closing system...i have seen many camera setups (such as the one i currently own) use a cord running through slots to keep the box closed...what are some other methods? I was thinking somthing like a suitcase latch, with a depressible male end locked into a female end. I think this would limit snag points, but yea, i'm lookin for other ideas as i dont have mine built yet. any suggestions would be appreciated. Just pm me or shoot me an e-mail @ tunafisherman@gmail.com
The111 1 #2 February 2, 2007 The 340 series latches here would work great, but they are a little hard to come by. Most of the few stores that stock them (online) require a minimum order of at least $30 or so... I bought a few but plan on using all of them. Attached is a picture of a helmet made by Brett Thomas... I'm pretty sure he used that exact latch on his custom d-boxes.www.WingsuitPhotos.com
Iceburner 0 #3 February 2, 2007 couldn't those latches catch a line and pop open though? or am i seeing the locking system wrong?

That is possible I guess, but I know a lot of people with Wes helmets which have the larger version of the latch on the side (holding the actual helmet closed). I do not know of one case of any of these people have a latch snag. The handles on the latches are bent down to prevent accidental opening (which is great for our application). Also, the design of the latch is such that even if it does pop open, it probably will not actually release, since the clasp will still be hooked. In the realm of your "suitcase latch" suggestion, I think this is a pretty good option.www.WingsuitPhotos.com
The111 1 #6 February 2, 2007 QuoteYour helmet's paint job looks like my Harley!! Woot! Not my helmet. Belongs to Brett Thomas in Texas (he made it AND painted it ). I'm almost finished building mine but I think i will just paint it solid.www.WingsuitPhotos.com
