Laszloimage 0 #3 February 6, 2007 So according with the license agreement if Apple selects someone's photo they don't have to pay for it. I think it's totally fair since iPods and music down loads are free too from Apple... I guess this is wrong. They trying to take advantage of those who don't know about the value of their photoraphs. Poor Apple... they can't afford to pay someones work...fuck'em! -Laszlo-
Carpediem 0 #4 February 6, 2007 QuotePoor Apple... they can't afford to pay someones work...fuck'em! Exactly. I paid out my ass for my macbook and ipod those cheap bastards Those who do, can't explain. Those who don't, can't understand.
indyz 1 #5 February 6, 2007 Jesus, people. It's not like it's some conspiracy to rip you off. The terms are right there, in plain English. If you don't like the rules, don't submit your pictures. (Before anybody makes the accusation, I am not an Apple fan. I don't own anything made by them, not even an iPod).
iamsam 0 #6 February 6, 2007 cheap shot by apple who should do better and sort out their hardware issues as well the overpriced fuckers still love my mac though Red Bull tried the same a few years ago in an extreme sports competition for professional photographers. Its a blatant rights grab pure and simple and all such attempts should be resisted, but images have become easier to capture, and people will go for it. Whether a semi/pro/amatuer photographer I say if you believe your pictures have value you don't give them away to a corporation to use for profit.but what do I know
BETO74 0 #7 February 6, 2007 I wonder if could be use as a promotonal stunt, kind a like a good picture with one of the DZ logos as watermark. as for giving your rights I don't really agree if I want to sent an icard I just use one from my photo gallery and that's it, don't really have to resign my rights.http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html

Laszloimage 0 #11 February 6, 2007 Actually Parachutis does pay for the printed photos. Doesn't pay a lot but something. The other important thing is when they wanted to use my submited pictures "outside" of the USPA they asked me if they could do it, and what would be conditions are. -Laszlo-

BlueSBDeath 2 #16 February 7, 2007 Leroy, were you given credit for the photo? Did you submit it? Did you use correct return address when you submitted it? I have gotten paid every time they have printed one of mine. It may have been an oversite, please keep contributing, they even took out an ad in the mag asking for photos. tonyhathaway 0 #18 February 7, 2007 At least they don't want exclusive rights. With AFV (americas funniest videos) if you submit video to them and agree to their terms, it is exclusive to them. they pay $250. At least the last time I read their contract that is what the deal was. That is why I have had nothing on there. I choose to not agree to their terms. I send it to other places that pay way better and don't want exclusivity........My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.

How many have sent pics in to Parachutist? Erm, none. I don't (yet) fly camera, but do earn a living as a professional photographer. Perhaps that helps explain my view. If i give away images, I don't eat. Or jump. Quote They do the exact same thing, do they not? No they don't. They publish your picture, paid for or not, that's it. You keep ©, at least I'd assume so?!?! Apple are asking you to submit pictures and agree that by doing so you have given them the copyright. You wouldn't then be be able to submit it to parachutist, whether they're paying you or not, because you don't own it anymore. You gave it to a corporation who can then use it how they wish, instead of paying a premium price to a picture library or photographer for a licence to use an image. There's a significant difference between a specialist/niche low circulation sports magazine and an internationl multii $$ computer company, you'd price your work accordingly. At least you wouldn't be lining Bill Gates pockets but what do I know
