PhreeZone 20 #2 February 10, 2007 The difference is only in the megapixel count and a few very small details. Go for what ever fits your price easiset. I sold my 10D and got a 400D but was looking at a 350D. You pay the import duty when you buy it so you know exactly how much it is going to cost in total there and then and you get a tracking number and all that jazz. Got all my stuff in 4 days from Hong Kong to the UK with LOADS of freebies. Check it out if you're thinking of buying soon. BlueSBDeath 2 #6 February 11, 2007 Skydog is correct, I have owned each of the Canon Dig Rebels, and eventually you get dust on the sensor, I hope that the self cleaning feature on the 400D works out. This feature and the 10.2 MegaPixal CCD are the major selling points of the 400D. Bryn That is a relief - that is the main feature which got me talked into buying a 400D rather than a 350D on Saturday. The salesperson also mentioned that the 400D has a faster focus function which may or may not be significant but surely can't hurt...*************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. Stay Safe, Arvel Well, a friend of mine who jumps with his 400D has a big dust speck right in the center when shooting at higher apertures, so it's not that reliable. Maybe his anti-dust tech is broken. I'll talk to him about it. Miami 0 #12 February 13, 2007 I wonder if the self cleaning feature blocks you from being able to clean it manually...that would be a huge drawback if you get a speck the self cleaner can not get off. I've cleaned the sensor a few times on my 20D and it really is not a difficult process at all. pilotdave 0 #13 February 13, 2007 I've cleaned my sensor with just a little air puffer thing that came in a cleaning kit I bought from B&H. Take the lens off, point the camera at the ground and point the puffer into the opening (with the camera in the sensor cleaning mode), and puff away a few times. Really easy and cleaned all the dust off. I was looking at a bunch of skydiving photo galleries on SmugMug and I couldn't believe how many people were selling pictures covered with dust specks. It's really not hard to get rid of them. But it IS very annoying to find them on all your pictures after a weekend... Dave Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Miami 0 #14 February 13, 2007 The puffer is the first line to cleaning the sensor...just lock the mirror up (put it in sensor cleaning mode), keep the camera pointing torward the ground (so the dust you blow around can fall out rather than right back on the sensor) and blast away (but keep the tip of the air cannon outside the body...if the tip touches the sensor you've likely turned your camera into an expensive paperweight!). For the dust that doesn't remove you have to go to the next line of cleaning, swabbing the sensor. This requires Sensor Swabs and Eclipse Cleaning Fluid. You have to lock the mirror up again, wet the appropriate swap with the cleaning fluid, and wipe it across your camera's sensor. This was the only way I could get my 20D really clear of dust, and I have to reclean it every couple of months. To really see how much dust is on your sensor put your camera on Aperture priority (Av), crank your aperture as small as you can (largest number...22, 29, or higher), and take a picture of a clean, light colored, brightly lit, even surface.Miami Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Bryn The 'shaker' will knock off loose stuff, but you still have to clean the sensor occasionally - it's not a "I never have to clean my camera again" solution. Two of the biggest things you can do to prevent dust: 1. TURN OFF THE CAMERA before you change lenses!!! There's a reason why the word "charge" is in "charge-coupled device" - a static field is a HUGE dust magnet. 2. Learn how to change lenses by touch, so you can keep the body opening facing down - it helps keep the loose dust floating around from dropping into the camera.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. Faber 0 #16 February 14, 2007 400 over 350 it has bigger screen on the back of the house It has more pixel it claims to be self cleaning-i wouldnt count on that,besides a pro cleaning aint that expencive..and its not going to happen werry often.. Personaly i would buy the 350d and use the extra mony on better lens..
