GPSJane 0 #1 February 14, 2007 Heya I am using Adobe Premier to edit my footage but I really can't figure out how to compress the video using DivX/MP3 or whatever for uploading! Any help? DSE 5 #2 February 14, 2007 For MP4, Browse to: File/Export Timeline/Movie. Choose a location to save your file to. Select the Settings button and choose ~File Type: QuickTime ~Range: Entire Project ~Export Video and Export Audio should be checked. Choose the Sorenson(or other compression codec), name it, save it. [edited to add] this same flow is used to render to any format, you'll be outputting MP4, WMV, and maybe Real, along with DivX.
GPSJane 0 #3 February 14, 2007 thanks, yeah that's what I did but the codecs are not there. I have installed DivX though. Not sure why it doesn't show.Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
DSE 5 #4 February 14, 2007 If I recall correctly, only the older/earlier versions of DivX are supported. Why are you after the DivX codec specifically? For web delivery, mp4, WMV, or other Quicktime formats are more desirable, IMO. That said, you can use the DivX encoder for anything that you render out of Premiere as a DV or YUV stream. Fast 0 #5 February 14, 2007 The new version of Premier Pro has support for more export codecs through the "Adobe Media Encoder" or so it seems to me at least.~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. DSE 5 #6 February 14, 2007 it has a lot more support in the Media Encoder than it did in the past. I did find [url "http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/codec/guides/premiere.php"]this tutorial[.url] from DivX on using PP to encode to their codec. GPSJane 0 #7 February 15, 2007 I was after the DivX codec but WMV is also fine. I have a serious aversion to Quicktime formats because I always seem to have a problem playing other peopole's .mov and mp4 files and I can't convert them to .avi for my portable player. I need DivX and MP3 encoding for my poratble anyway but the WMV is also not there that I could see. I will have to try when I get home. Please can you explain that?Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!

HTH Thanks, my problem is when I get to this bit: QuoteStep 7 Choose DivX Pro(tm) 5.2.0 Codec from the Compressor drop-down menu. There is not DivX codec to choose. I hasten to mention that I have installed DivX.Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
dragon2 2 #9 February 15, 2007 Did you install the divx codec/player or the complete package? Just the codec will not let you save in divx, just view. ciel bleu, Saskia
GPSJane 0 #10 February 15, 2007 Erm I don't know. I installed the download from www.divx.com (the only one available). I know VirtualDub works just fine converting video with the codec so surely so should Adobe?Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
