steveorino 7 #1 February 23, 2007 My firewire went belly up I guess. Any other way to get video off a Sony HC40 on to a computer w/o the firewire? steveOrino
phoenixlpr 0 #2 February 23, 2007 Sure. Take an analog capture card and connect to the video/audio out of the camera or play that tape back on any other miniDV camcorder.
bigbearfng 18 #3 February 23, 2007 Or the USB
DSE 5 #4 February 23, 2007 You can use a device like the Canopus ADVC series (Another Damn Video Converter) that will take the analog input and convert it to a DV signal output over 1394. Canopus also has the ADVC1394 that can usually be found cheap on Ebay. USB2 rarely works for capture/transfer, simply as the result of USB being proc dependent whereas the Firewire has its own bus. phoenixlpr 0 #5 February 23, 2007 Or buying a miniDV camera on eBay which has broken optics, but good mechanics and dv-out.
steveorino 7 #6 February 23, 2007 QuoteOr the USB Premier, and I think Windows Movie Maker, require the use of a firewire to capture video. What program can I use to capture to computer. For clarification. I "think" it i sthe cable that is bad, not the firewire port on the camera itself. Yeah, I know, buy a new cable. I will, but I was talking about how to get to computer last night, as I need thevideo for a class today. steveOrino

steveorino 7 #8 February 23, 2007 It was the cable. I borrowed one and that is it. That is the second one I've had to buy! steveOrino
