tetra316 0 #1 March 4, 2007 Can someone explain what the simple differences are between the models in laymans terms. I thought the lower numbers were the more expensive models but the 10d are cheap compared to the 30 and rebel numbers. But the 30 is a lot more than the rebels. What the difference between the rebels and non rebels. Help!
Icon134 0 #2 March 4, 2007 the simple difference.. the 30D is a semi pro or straight up professional digital camera and is a follow on/upgrade to the 10D which is a few years old. The 350D is a "Prosumer" digital SLR and the "Rebel 350D" name is primarily used everywhere but the US. it is a great camera and is very capable. I've included a links below to a very good digital photography preview site that has great write ups of each of these cameras (as well as many others.) http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos10d/ http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos30d/ http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos350d/Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... LukeH 0 #3 March 4, 2007 Icon nailed it. There was the 20D inbetween the 10D & 30D. The 350D has been supersceeded by the 400D The 300D/350D/400D are smaller cheaper and lighter than the 10D/20D/30D.
PharmerPhil 0 #4 March 4, 2007 There are lots of differences, and as Icon said, the 10D is several years old. However, one thing that may not show up in the review is that the 10D isn't compatible with Canon's EF-S, or APS sensor sized lenses. It was developed before they came out (I think they were introduced with the original Digital Rebel), so you can't use the 10D with the cheap 18-55mm kit lens, or the highly touted 10-22mm lens. I think the 10D has a much smaller buffer too (i.e. shorter burst mode), but the dpreview site gives pretty comprehensive reviews for stuff like that if you can wade through them.
