PhreeZone 20 #2 March 8, 2007 Any reason the videos are 20-30 minutes long? Thats typically far beyond the average tandem video and is usually in the realm of "year end" or "highlight" videos. Everyone likes different software for their videos but a couple of good ones are the free Movie Maker in Windows XP. Another good one is Sony's Vegas or Studio 10 or higher. If you are going to do editing on the computer the faster the computer the better. Also you can never havetoo much hard drive space.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
steveorino 7 #3 March 8, 2007 buy a linear board and self edit as you shoot. You can buy a device that allows stills from your computer to be used as stills in the vide. It will take you about 15 minutes to make a 10-12 minute video. More than long enough. I purchased a used Panosonic linear editing board for $200 and the still converter for about $40--50 steveOrino

steveorino 7 #5 March 8, 2007 As you can see, ask 10 vidiots and you will get 10 different responses. I was one of those who hated linear editing because I could edit on my computer so much better. After I learned how to shoot only what I needed I found the only thing linear editing lacked was the ability to put high resolution stills in the video. A captured still just doesn't measure up to a still from a XTi. Then my fellow vidiot Brian introduced me to a gadget that converts images off a computer to a video input on a linear mixing board. Now I had the speed of linear and the high quality stills of non-linear editing. That is why I prefer a good linear board over a Mac or PC steveOrino

I am familiar with the tandem just shoot what you need. i have windows xp i am real dumb with my computer though. linear sounds good while i learn the computer stuff sounds like i need a mixer that provides titler and a dvd burner. can any one provide brand names i can search for. also the name of the device that converts digital stills to dvd thanks guys i used to hook up my record player to a vcr and put music on tandems by pausing in record and swaping the audio sources back and forth this was a great leap ahead from raw tandem footage i had a hi 8 and an audio mixing board at the end sounds like linear to start then i can grow into some sort of computer set up thanks justin mb 66WAKE UP TANDEMGUY !THERES A DUI CHECKPOINT UP AHEAD
