JohnnyZ 0 #1 March 21, 2007 I'm putting together a new camera helmet. I'm going to have a Sony HC5 in a Cookie HC5/7 Black Box. I'd like to get a Cookie MXV, but I'm wondering if I'd have to get the Liquid Flatlock with the adaptor plate for the MXV to make it work. I don't need the box to have a quick release and I'd rather not have to spend over $130 extra for stuff I don't need... So I'm wondering if anyone out there knows if the MXV is suitable for direct mounting the HC5/7 box, or would I be better off just getting the Bonehead Optik because of its long & flat top surface? freeatlast 0 #2 March 21, 2007 I don't know about the bonehead but i'm just mounting my HC5 onto a 2K composites helmet - i originally chose their 'Kryten' helmet but when i went to the shop we went for a new version of the 'side FX?' which had just been made - it's got a nice long flat top mount and will be perfect for mounting my HC5 - as for the flat-lock i'm still thinking about that one myself as i'm not sure if i really need it ... I did however go for the 2k composite quick -release system this time !!! As for the black box - depending on where you jump you could just mount the camera with a plate to support the lens attachment point and a cage to support the camera body. There was a nice example of that in the workshop last week ... You'd have to contact 2k for some photo's .... But it would save the cost of the black box ... Nb i have already had 2 helmets from 2k composites over the years plus a Cookie 'Monster' helmet but i have no experience of the Bonehead helmet and can't really comment on that one.... I have to say that over-all i have been happy with all of my camera helmets so far so i guess it's also a case of trying one for size and comfort as well as the practicalities of mounting the camera ... Just my 0.02c !!!
x-claim 0 #3 March 21, 2007 You could probably use the liquid flatlock adapter plate to create a flat surface to mount the black box to? http://www.cookiecomposites.com/shop/helmetaccessories/26/index.htm Just contact the cookie guys through their website, they reply pretty quickly.
