Tandem Digi pix (how many?)

so I am about to mount my XT onto my helmet (FINALLY)

but I've got a question for those with digi cams.

how many pictures do you give the tandem?

All?

some?

only the best?

24?

Let's say I take a burst of 5 shots out the door
take a burst of 5 shots duriing drogue toss
about 20 during freefall 10 during opening and 10 during landing (totally random numbers)


do you just dump all the pic on a disc and go or do you "trim the fat?"

I dump all of them on a cd.. they can trim the fat..

I give the customer an average of about 50 photos.. a couple on the ground as they gear up, a couple by the airplane and during boarding.. a couple on the way up (about half way) and 2 or 3 in the door on exit.. during the exit a burst of about 5-10
Freefall photos about 20 - 25
Landing shots

the customer together with friends after the skydive 4 / 5 shots

I burn all of them on a cd for them, too much work going through them in between loads..

It's digital the customer expects more photos..

I'm working at a mixed DZ. We finally mandated upgrade to digital by the end of this coming season but untill that happens the rule is that everyone gets the same amount of pictures so I stick around 24.

just give them one that is worth the $60 they paid, it is not the number of the pictures, it is the money shot that matters...

I give them everything, which ranges from 100-150 pictures, depending. Much easier for me to use my stand alone cd burner/card reader than try and pick out which ones to give them.

We don't even offer stills only, so no input there...

I average about 65 shots overall. I give a cd and 2 8x10s for an additional $35 after purchase of DVD.
when people see thier 8x10s, ten mins. after they land, they usually go for it and purchase the full package. 70%+
I want all my customers are completely satisfied.

Anywhere between 24 and 50, i give them all to the customer as well as it's rare that i have time to go through them and trim off the bad ones. We also don't offer stills only.

Usually do 30 to 36. Take some ground shots before, a few shots in the plane, a few landing shots, and the rest in freefall.

I shoot 50 or more, delete the junk and usually end up with about 35 shots on average. Sometimes a few more sometimes a few less.

Training, gear up, take off, exit, freefall, canopy/landing, hugs and kisses. The usual.

Do you delete the junk on camera or in post? If you do it in Post are you handing the student a CD before they leave or are you mailing it?

I plug the camera into a tv monitor so I can see the shots better and delete the junk from the flash card. Then I burn a CD from the card that they can take with them. I try to involve the student in this when possible, what I think might be junk they might want.

If they are in a hurry to leave and I don't have time I will mail it but prefer not to. I don't need any loose ends after the jump day is over. I have only had to do that a few times.

Usually they leave with the edited video on DVD and a CD with around 30-35 digital shots.

I think I am doing my um.....pre2nd digi cam jump this weekend.

Hopefully My 15mm lens that I ordered for overnight will come in, otherwise I will have to jump my 18mm which you can see a part of on the video.
