CornishChris 5 #1 March 28, 2007 Hi. I have just put my stills camera on my cookie lid and have had to drill a hole for the bit switch cable. I was looking at other lid set ups and saw that some people had a grommet in the hole (can't think of a better description) as per the attached pic. Where can i get one of these from. I have seen the liberal use of gaffer tape in other situations but this looks so much neater. Any ideas where I can pick one up? Also was wondering what people do with with the bite switch when the still is not attached - do you remove the cable, let it 'hang loose', or gaffer it down? CJP Gods don't kill people. IMO you dont have enough jumps to be putting a "grommet" on your helmet... thats just asking for trouble....----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

The grommets I use have a fairly small inner diameter, so when I'm not using the cable I push the cable back into the helmet and the strain-relief molding around the connector seats itself in the grommet and holds it there. This makes installing them a bit harder, but here's what you do. Dremel/drill a hole that is just barely big enough to get the jack on the end of the cable through. Run the cable through, and use a pull-up cord to stretch the grommet over the end of the cable. Finally, push the grommet down and seat it in the surface of the helmet. /edited to add photos
