DVD burners

My DVD burner just died after 3 hard years of use. If you had to get a new one NOW (no time for shipping) that had a fast finalizing period, what would you get? I was going to get one with an internal hard drive, but they take too long to write the info to the disc and then finalize...

I would get another liteon. Mine finalizes in about 30 seconds

That's what I use as well. I do linear editing and the liteon works great..nice and fast

Are you using DVD/R or DVD/RW? Where do you get this brand? I have not heard of them before...

I think you can get Liteon at Walmart.

and I use the cheaper Imation brand DVD+R's with mine. Never had one that wouldn't play

My Philips just died after 700 videos. I bought a cheap Magnavox and it didn’t work. I bought a high end Sony and it didn’t work. I then bought another Philips for about $170 and it works well. It’s a little slow on finalizing, but still works well on busy days.

I picked up a Lite-on DD-A100GX Friday for $99 at Best Buy.

They are phasing out this model, so there aren't many left, but if you click on the "Select Preferred Store Availability" link, you can see if any are in stock near you. I used it this weekend and it worked great.
