Does anybody use Sony HC-35E?

I'm gonna buy a videocam. HC-35E seems to be the perfect choice. Cheap, 20x optical zoom, DV input.

Any opinion of yours?

I want to be sidemounted.

It's too wide for sidemounting. Read a few recent threads about sidemount options.

You can sidemount the hc series with no problems. Many people do.

Yes, but some are too wide for side mounting.

Ones suitable for side mounting are for example :

HC18,19,20,21,22,30,39,40,42,46,96

You cannot safely sidemount all of the hc series. But go right ahead.

Didn't realize there were variations of the those that are larger.

What size do you consider to be safe for sidemount?

35E is 8-11mm wider than PC-350 or PC-1000.
