skydivegirl 0 #4 May 29, 2003 I tried Gatorz & Spy Optics (I know a lot of people that swear by both). The sunglasses that ended up working the best for me was a $15 pair from PacSun.Pink Mafia Sis #
BMFin 0 #5 May 29, 2003 How do you know if a pair of sunglasses is snugg enough ? I havent jumped with sunglasses but I would imagine that they could easilly be problematic in Sitfly if they dont sit tight in your face.
skydivegirl 0 #6 May 29, 2003 I just tried a few different pairs out. I seemed to have the biggest problem finding a good fit in a sit/stand. Headdown & belly I never had to much of a problem with. I think the trick is to get the top & bottom to touch your face. The gaps on the sides have never caused a problem (and I wear contacts). With my sunglasses there is a small gap under my eye but when I smile it closes the gap. So I have to be smiling all the time in a sit.. which isn't usually a problem anyway. Yoshi 0 #9 May 29, 2003 I am well the one on the right:) those sunglasses were like 5 bucks or something and I drilled a hile in then base of the arms to put a bungee thru it.. I use the bungee when I dont where a helmet or with my freefly helmet, but on my full face (without a lens in it) I jsut tuck m in and they stay nice and put... not too much air gets thru, but I do have to clean them every 2-3 jumps from what I guess is tears that mess up the lenses.. maybe its just snot-yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent. johnny1488 1 #10 May 29, 2003 I found the best ones yet (for me and a few other jumpers) at Bob's for $16. OP (ocean pacific). Im trying to get the gear store to carry them so I dont have to build my own stock. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" AggieDave 6 #12 May 29, 2003 I've been using Gatorz as my sunglasses and my goggles since last July and I don't think I'll ever go back. I don't notice any wind coming behind the glasses (there probably is, I just don't notice it), and the optics are great. Not to mention that most of their models are made from aluminum, they're tough. Much tougher then the three different pairs of Oakleys I've owned over the years (which break very easily, btw). Better then cheap glasses, too, the optics in those cheap sunglasses always give me headaches.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." MrHixxx 0 #13 May 29, 2003 I have a pair of Gatorz, but I don't use them for jumping... I found mine are not optically correct. I was at the end of a swoop last year, went to put my feet down and they were still a foot off the ground when I thought I was going to touch! Objects in these shades are farther away than they appear! -Hixxxdeath,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
rigging65 0 #14 May 29, 2003 I jump Gatorz, but I use the Converters specifically so that I can put lighter lenses in them so that my students can see my eyes during the skydive. The important thing is that they fit with very little or no gap against your cheek. And for those who have been around long enough to remember RW the eye contact issue overrides the cool function of dark shades. I have very sensitive depth perception, so I push them up on my forehead after I get the canopy flying, but other than that they're great! Been jumping em for over a year and I have no complaints. base698 20 #15 May 30, 2003 Gatorz do look cool but the best for freefall were a Nike brand. They by far worked the best. Only $35 too.
