hjumper33 0 #1 October 2, 2007 Does anyone know where I can find a carbon fiber bonehead topper? I dont see them on their website, are they out of production?
velocityphoto 0 #2 October 3, 2007 They still make them but they aren't on the site . Call Linda at bonehead for it. They make an over sized width on them if you want ? hjumper33 0 #5 October 4, 2007 Unfortunately I dont have the money for that kind of setup, and just want to modify my current sidemount windward for some base video action. Theres got to be an ex jumper out there somewhere with an old topmount.
DSE 5 #6 October 4, 2007 Why is it you don't want to use their universal metal mount? Is it too high a profile?
hjumper33 0 #7 October 4, 2007 I have a weird thing about shiny metal on my base jumps, especially that large of a chunk, and the topper just seems more smoothly integrated, and asthetically pleasing. I even have blacked out hardware on my rig.
LouDiamond 1 #8 October 4, 2007 QuoteI even have blacked out hardware on my rig. This always kills me. Base guys want everything in black so they "blend in". The truth of the matter is that black is the worst color to use in the woods or in an urban environment. If you want to be hard to see, either on the ground or while in the air, a light gray color is the most difficult to see, even in the daytime. There is a reason why that color is used on most military canopies and containers."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
hjumper33 0 #9 October 4, 2007 Well its obviously asthetic too, and the choices are flat black or stainless, so if a random flashlight is swinging around, one is way more likely to reflect back than the other. When you are climbing around in shadows, black is pretty nice, once i jump im not too concerned. That gunshot crack and gigantic canopy above my head will give me away before the hardware and topper do.

Not to mention that being clad in all black at night, lurking around in public automatically looks suspcious to cops. But hey, what do I know about camo and not being seen? Besides, you've already said you're going for asthetics."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING

People notice the traffic, but not the vehicles themselves. On the other hand being very obvious might achieve stealth.
