DSE 5 #2 October 22, 2007 Do you have the HDV codec installed? You need the "AppleHDVCodec.component" file installed in your systems libraryQuicktime folder.

DSE 5 #4 October 22, 2007 I don't know if it comes with iMovie or not, I thought it did, but perhaps you need the Pro version of Quicktime. It's only 30.00 if you need it.

DSE 5 #8 October 22, 2007 You might also look in: Root/Library/QuickTime/AppleHDVCodec.component. You running the latest QT?
freeflydrew 0 #9 October 22, 2007 is that codec installed with fcp? I ask that because a)I don't have it on my mbp and b)it's mentioned a couple of times on the web
DSE 5 #10 October 23, 2007 It's installed with the last two versions of FCP to my knowledge.
murrays 0 #11 October 23, 2007 The issue of being able to control your camcorder but not being able to transfer video is one I also experienced with my HC-42. I can't remember what hoops I had to jump through to get it to work but check out the Apple Support forums. Are you still under warranty? If so, call tech support. I've been capturing all my old family video using iMovie 8 on my new Mac so haven't used iMovie HD on the old machine for quite some time and can't remember what I had to do...sorry.-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
vdschoor 0 #12 October 23, 2007 Check if your firewire conversion is turned on. It's probably set to output to DV instead of 1080i HDV I've experienced similar behavior, you can control the camera, but the video doesn't show up because somehow the data doesn't come across..
