highfly 0 #1 June 3, 2003 I am looking at buying a new helmet very soon. It's looking like it's gonna be a freefly helmet tooI am in a bit of a mix up about which is the best, worst and moderate helmets for use in freefly. I have looked at Parasport, Bonehead, Gath, Gecko, 2K composites etc etc. Out of the above what do you have and why? I am interested in finding out a bit more about the Parasport Z1 Evo open face helmet. At the moment there isnt any reviews on dz.com review page so if you could help me out Thanks for your help before hand. www.myspace.com/durtymac
lauril 0 #2 June 3, 2003 Well, I have a gath helmet, but only because I didn't have any more money at the time, 'cause I had to buy gear and alti and stuff...If you want a piece of bucket plastic to cover your head from the wind, thats ok, but I think your intentions are a little different... I'll buy a bonhead as soon as I have the money...
bkdice 0 #3 June 3, 2003 there was just a thread on this... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=498929;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread (hope i posted that URL right)
 skybytch 273 #4 June 3, 2003 Buy one that fits your head and your budget. Different helmet brands fit different size and shape heads and faces. Try on as many different brands close to your size as possible. Don't buy mail order or online if you aren't 100% sure of the sizing for the helmet you are buying. Surprisingly enough, a Protec provides some of the best head protection available at a very reasonable price. Was just after feedback really for the helmet types. www.myspace.com/durtymac
 LouDiamond 1 #6 June 3, 2003 IMO I think the Parasport softside version is a rip off. The damn thing is so flexible that I don't see it providing even simple bump into stuff protection, it's just too flimsy. The normal hardshell version seems a bit more durable but the price is up there too. You need to ask yourself what you want this helmet to provide. Is it to look cool, comfort, protection, camera mounting, etc? If it's for protection then Bytch is dead on, the protec is the best choice and you can purchase an interior upgrade package for it from AeroOregon that surpasses any of the helmets on the market today. Some of those helmets you mentioned(Nvertigo) are so off on the sizing that it isn't funny so be sure to try on first."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
 Faber 0 #7 June 3, 2003 I think the Parasport softside version is a rip offQuotei had 2 ofthouse they didnt last mane ff jumps Stay safe Stefan Faber
 SkydiveMonkey 0 #8 June 3, 2003 You can try my FF1 on the weekend and see what you think mate. I've yet to jump with it. I ordered the soft touch black finish, and it looks very nicce indeed. although it did take 2 months to come through from italy!! One thing i do like already is the motorcycle style chin strap mechnism. very easy to use. It's just your basic shell that holds audibles. I really like it because it has two internal audible ports that are right next to your ears. It won't provide near the protection of the pro-tec or the mindwarp, but it fits really nice, wasn't too expensive and works for what I bought it for.
