Jumpervint 0 #1 November 18, 2007 Has anyone seen this helmet cam in use? Judging by the videos posted to YouTube, the quality doesn't look good enough for skydiving, but it does appear to be a cheap alternative if all you want is something from your own POV. http://helmetcameracentral.com/2006/11/06/oregon-scientific-atc2k-atc-2000-helmet-camera/ Vint. . . . . DSE 5 #2 November 18, 2007 So long as you're not planning on viewing the footage anywhere but YouTube or smaller, it's fine. You can't make a DVD with it or anything, but if it's just for gross use and you've got a hundred bucks to throw away, and don't mind spending time getting it stable (the centermount is well known, and is laughable, like a fulcrum on a teetertotter)...why not? It's small, lightweight, and takes pictures of slightly lesser quality than most cell phones...so I'm sure it would be good to review a dive quickly, assuming you've got a computer handy. Zee 0 #3 November 19, 2007 I have one that I mount on my bike during track sessions. The quality is shitty at best - both audio and video. And it's pretty sensitive to vibrations. It stays on during the warm up laps but once the tires get warm and the rpm's climb above 10K it shuts off. It's alright for what it is - a cheap video camera. I don't really want to strap a $1500 video camera on my bike in case of a crash so for that, it works kind of ok. Don't think it would be very good for skydiving at all. Locke 0 #4 December 18, 2007 http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=5831&string=atc-2000 Here's what I got out of mine. Basically velcroed/glued it to my oxygen helmet. It was fun till I realized that I wanted to do real video and upgrated to a camera setup. Probably not worth the $100 though
