Problem with iMovie, any suggestions...

Recommended Posts

New Mac owner here so I'm still learning.

I can get my video onto the computer, no problem. But when it shows up in iMovie instead of seeing images of all segments after a while some of them will go grey. I'll start to play the video and then iMovie totally shuts down. Any suggestions/ideas?

I have a new Mac:
2.8 GhZ
2 gig of Ram
500 gig hard drive

Thanks

Sorry for the delay. Still not working. I've retyped the issue maybe I didn't make full sense. This is iMovie8 by the way.

The first time I imported several clips with no problem. I sliced and edited everything accordingly. Then I shut down iMovie when I opened it back up all the clips where still there but instead of seeing the pictures in each clip they were just gray. After clicking on a few of them iMovie shut down. I'd start it again and it would shut down again.

I deleted all the clips imported them again and bam same thing happened.

What do I need to do to fix this problem?

Thanks a lot.

PS: I'm running an iMac with a 2.8 Ghz and 2gig of ram.

First off, let me make a suggestion. Ditch iMovie 08, or at least download iMovie 6 HD and give that a try. It is so much more powerful. As for the problem you're having with iMovie 08 you might try zapping your PRAM and trashing your preference files too. That might help as well.

Toss your iMovie Pref files and then restart your computer while holding down the (Cmd)(Shift)(P) & (R) keys. Let the computer bong about 4 times. Hope that helps. Also, depending on when you got your computer you might try calling Apple. You should have 90 days of tech support and someone on the phone may have some suggestions for you as well.
