CRESPO24 0 #1 January 2, 2008 I've read the posts for Sony HDR-CX7, but the specific model is not for sale in Europe. I'm thinking to buy a sony HDR-CX6EK.Has anyone an opinion for it? Also i have a Bonehead Optik with an L on the side. Is it safe to mount it there?
dragon2 2 #2 January 2, 2008 It's the same camera as the CX7. ciel bleu, Saskia
savuporo 0 #3 January 2, 2008 European Sony consumer site has nice feature-wise comparison of all the current models they make, but it only lists CX6EK. North america has only CX7 listed. Comparing these webpages side-by side they indeed seem almost identical. I'm planning on getting the CX6 as well.
DSE 5 #4 January 2, 2008 You might find it a little wide. Take your helmet to the store and see if it looks to fit. I think it'll be wide. Removing the handle strap will reduce width, but not by much. Great little camera, however.
CRESPO24 0 #5 January 3, 2008 Thanks for the informations! It seems that i'll mount it on the top of the helmet, trying not to be thinking the possibilities of crushing it somewhere
bomb420 1 #6 January 3, 2008 Probably the best choice with just an 'L' bracket to mount it on top. For comparison purposes, and to allow others to make their own decision, here are some pics of the CX7 vs. a PC120bt (which seems like the widest PC form factor) I have a side mount bonehead "D-box" case for the PC120bt with the following internal dimensions (bonehead's website: A: 3.65" B: 4.75" C: 3" D: 1.75") -TrunkHYPOXIC
DSE 5 #7 January 3, 2008 I'd have posted similar pix, but someone seems to have borrowed my CX7, since you were being stingy with yours.
CRESPO24 0 #8 January 3, 2008 Well bomb240, i began to worry. There is not any case or something to protect the specific camera, is there?
savuporo 0 #9 January 3, 2008 Cookie Composites has a box ready for that camera for their MXV helmet. Im torn between ordering a Tonfly Fuego Converter Pro and figuring out my own camera box, or ordering a Cookie MXV along with their camera box and other bits. I had the opportunity to try Tonfly on and liked their Converter system, but Cookie Flatlock seems to be similar in functionality so im not sure now. Anyone seen other camera boxes for CX7/CX6EK yet ?
dragon2 2 #10 January 3, 2008 Tonfly does have a box for the CX6, cheap too! ciel bleu, Saskia
DSE 5 #11 January 3, 2008 There are several companies making cases for this little camera.
savuporo 0 #12 January 3, 2008 Didnt see CX6 box on Tonfly site, nor in their resellers stores. i suppose i will e-mail and ask. Who are the others ?
savuporo 0 #13 January 7, 2008 replying to myself: just got an e-mail response from Tonfly, they say: "we have not any cover available with the camcorder you mentioned." They recommended either making my own mount or just getting an L-bracket from them. I could do that, but still would prefer to have camera covered. bomb420 1 #14 January 7, 2008 Isn't it the exact same body as the Cx7? If so, Cookie and others have one as for the Cx7 specifically. They probably do not know Cx6EK is the exact same camera(bodywise). -TrunkHYPOXIC
CRESPO24 0 #15 January 8, 2008 I just received the CX6EK and it can't be mounted on an L bracket for sure, as bomd240 said. The cookie's cover seems to be the best choice!
mrwrong 0 #16 January 8, 2008 My experience with Tonfly is that you have to take statements from them with a pinch of salt. They said that my HC5 should fit into the HC3 box without any need for modification. Yeah right.. I spent 8 hrs cutting it and insert foam spacers in order to make the HC5 fit into the box. If you know what you need then Tonfly is an excellent company to buy from, first class helmets no doubt about that! When it comes to boxes, I will buy from Cookie in the future.“The sum of intelligence on the planet is a constant; the population is growing.” - George Bernard Shaw He who dies with the most toys, wins..... dudeist skydiver # 19515 Buy quality and cry once! dragon2 2 #17 January 8, 2008 A friend of mine has held a tonfly cx6 box in his hand this Christmas at Empuria. My hc5 box did need some cutting yeah, as the opening for the lens was slightly offset, other than that, a bargain at 63 euros! ciel bleu, Saskia
DSE 5 #18 January 8, 2008 Actually, that was me who said that. It will fit an L bracket, I just tried it. It's wide, as stated, but removing the webbing/grip pad made it fit with near-normalcy.
CRESPO24 0 #19 January 9, 2008 Yes DSE it was wou sorry...Can you post a picture with the camera on the L?
savuporo 0 #20 January 10, 2008 QuoteA friend of mine has held a tonfly cx6 box in his hand this Christmas at Empuria. I was there too, trying the helmets on, and thats where i got a tip about CX6/7 in the first place, but didnt see any Tonfly camera boxen there. Just helmets. And now they wrote in the email that they dont have a box for it. I think i'll go with Cookie in the end. Any opinion on the quick mounts on Cookie vs Tonfly ? DSE 5 #21 January 10, 2008 I have a Cookie mount, it's not any different than Schumacher or some of the others. I've ordered a Tonfly that has the Converter built in to it, so will have an informed opinion in a few days.
