faulknerwn 38 #1 January 17, 2008 I went up on a jump with my EOS this morning, and it was @^^#&*#^ cold (for Texas anyway). The pictures I took in the plane looked fine, but right before I got out, the bottom half of every photo shows up as solid black. Even on the ground, now every photo shows up with the bottom half black like the shutter is sticking. Any ideas? W
DSE 5 #2 January 17, 2008 There is quite a discussion on this in the Canon Photo forums with the problem stemming from heat, not cold, but the posted images there are identical to what you describe. If it's the same thing, plan on sending your camera to Canon if it's warranted, and there is a hack on that website (will violate warranty) by putting the cam in AE mode and manually flipping the mirror up a couple times. Seems to have worked for more than one person.
freefalle 0 #3 January 17, 2008 I agree with DSEs thought. Ive seen that happen on a brand new camera right out of the box. It started out fine and began doing that and then it became an intermittent pain in the ass. Is the camera still under warranty? I hope so. Try DSEs remedy but if that doesn't work its going to have to go for repair. Good luck Chuck
jtval 0 #4 January 17, 2008 I may be mistaking about the number but I believe the XTI shutter has about a 100,000 photo life. That does not mean at 100,001 you'll need a new cam but I THINK it means that you should get the camera serviced about the 10,000 mark. the XT has a 50,000 EDIT: Oh, yea I forgot to say "I don't know how many shots you took with your camera but that may be something to look into."My photos My Videos
