Iceburner 0 #1 March 12, 2008 as i am about to start jumping my new high def setup, i was wondering what programs are recommended for editing....i currently use an old version of adobe priemere, but of course it doesn't work with high def (so i've been told)....just wondering what programs do, and how they compare to premiere 1.5 (which is what i have)
PhreeZone 20 #2 March 12, 2008 Premiere Pro 1.5? PP1.5 has HD support. I use PP2.0 and its a solid platform but its pricey. If I was to do it over I'd look at Vegas since its cheaper.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Iceburner 0 #3 March 13, 2008 i was told pp 1.5 didn't have hd support...although i have not been able to try anything i dont have all my new toys around...but if it does, then i guess this thread is useless
DSE 5 #4 March 13, 2008 it didn't initially ship with HD support, but the updates are free. Get em' here... It *does* offer HD support, but it's painful. You'll do better shooting HD and downconverting in-camera to SD if you want a decent editing experience. Sony Vegas Movie Studio is significantly faster, has more features by far, than PP1.5. Canopus Edius, Newtek SpeedEdit, and even Ulead Video Studio have significantly faster, better, more stable tools than Premiere Pro 1.5. You really need CS2 or 3 to get the most out of HDV. Adobe does not yet support AVCHD, and based on recent conversations, it may be a while til they do.

It can edit HDV footage. ScottLivin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
