JohnnyZ 0 #1 March 16, 2008 I did a search and nothing came up from the last five years... I'm just wondering if there is a particular grade of Sony miniDV tape that could be considered to be the best for HD recording?

DSE 5 #4 March 16, 2008 Advanced Metal (Evaporated) II=Second Generation Newer tape particle format that allows for a +4dB greater carrier signal, it allows for 80% greater error correction for HD signal. Been around for roughly 3 years in video, almost 5 years in data archiving. tough stuff, has a long shelf life. Not sure what else to say about it. I did find [url "http://www.sony.ca/storage/data/Pedal_to_the_Metal_Piece.pdf"this article[/url] Googling around. HTH?

From what I've heard, and from experience, Panasonic's "Master" quality tapes seem to be pretty good. They're white with a blue label.Gravity Waits for No One.
