RyanOBrian 0 #1 March 20, 2008 Putting togather a cookie, and am curious if anyone knows what size to drill the hole to mount the cameye nicely. Thanks!
RyanOBrian 0 #3 March 20, 2008 good so about 2 feet huh???
bomb420 1 #5 March 20, 2008 Exactly.... (mil not millimeter/meter..) Schumacher typically marks it and then cuts it with a dremel. He's got really really steady hands. Carbon fiber is very interesting stuff, keep it away from electronics, lens.... well pretty much everything oh and lungs and eyes...HYPOXIC
RyanOBrian 0 #6 March 21, 2008 I finally figured out that whole mil thing. a 5/8'' drill bit should be about perfect then for the cameye.... Let the cutting begin
jtval 0 #7 March 21, 2008 I can gaurantee you won't have any issues getting it i n the hole if you drilled it at 2ft.Some people take the rubber casing off and just put the little red button through the helmet. My photos My Videos

RyanOBrian 0 #10 March 21, 2008 650mil = .65 in 5/8 = .625 That should be close enough. I'll drill a 5/8 hole in a piece of wood first and do a test fit before I drill the helmet.
johnboy 0 #11 March 22, 2008 I used the 5/8 bit on my helmet. It's a bit of a squeeze to get the button assembly through the hole, but since it's rubber, it's not too big a deal. Also, the assembly doesn't slop around in the hole that way, and leaves the little red button right at the surface of your helmet. Nothing to shear off that way, and with the little ridge around it that's poking through the helmet, it's easy to find even with gloves on. I'd snap a pic for you, but I've no way to post it right now. $0.02 deposited.
idrankwhat 0 #13 March 24, 2008 5/8" paddle bit did the trick, and is cheap.
Skydave103 0 #14 March 24, 2008 One on the attachments on the Dremmel was the perfect size. Only problem is I dont remember which one it was!! Damn it sucks getting old. You can actually use any undersized drill bit you have on hand to drill a pilot hole and then ream the opening larger by twisting the tapered tail of a file slowly until the hole is the size you like.
