Another imovie 08 question

I just started using imovie 08 and I can't find how to give effects to the movie ie. slow and fast motions etc did they omitted such things in the 08 versions???? I tried the tutorials in internet and there is no reference to this??

There are many improvements in the i movie 08 that i need to get used to, I should probably just stick to my old power book!!

One question, will erasethe newer versions to install the older version??? I could just use my old power book but I cant believe they screw up that way.

Apple's solution is that they give you free download for imovie 6, and suggest you to do those effects in imovie 6 and import video to new imovie. They also lowered the price for final cut express from $299-$199.
I completely agree with you, too. I thought no one in right mind would take these features out of. But that's that.

Imovie 08 is a complete ballache for editing.... Final cut express is the only decent option and the new express does avchd. Or get the update for about $100

Gotta use ImoveHD, the previous version for any kind of editing. Also get some third party plugins from G Three. With that setup you can make pretty good looking movies.

I use Imovie 6 for all my tandem videos and its great - the themes and such are very cool. I never use v8...

I had the same issue. I use the "DV" video mode. If I tried using MPEG, the editing options were not available. Hope that helps...
