fallin 0 #1 May 21, 2008 Does anyone have the insider info as to why the CX7 has gone obsolete? The replacement is apparently not skydiver friendly ...can anyone enlighten my troubled mind. Thanks
PhreeZone 20 #2 May 21, 2008 Sony only has limited release cycles for their products. Once they make all of the ones they projected would be needed they move on to the next model for production. It has been like this for years and years. Just as a product starts to get tested and accepted by skydivers Sony finishes they production run and leaves us to get second hand units or ones that have sat on a shelf for months at some retailer.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Tommy_O 0 #4 May 21, 2008 There's no way the CX7 is "obselete" already - it's been around a year! It's one of their "flagship" cameras!
PhreeZone 20 #5 May 21, 2008 It is very possible that Sony has finished their production run of the camera and are not making it new anymore. That means the only ones out there are the ones sitting on a retailers shelves. Sony has tended to have production runs in the 3-9 month range in the past, its actually based on a number they needed to make but that is how long the product was listed for as new on their website. Sony already has the CX7 as refurbished units on their site so I'd say the time is limited on it being availble new.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
frost 1 #6 May 21, 2008 where are the tits?! What people said is true - it lasts only a short period of time on Sony production line. But who cares? PC1000 has been "obsolete" for what, 2 years now? Go try to buy even a used one for less then $

frost 1 #8 June 4, 2008 Well, looks like the CX7 is officially discontinued :)
RMK 3 #9 August 7, 2008 CX7 or European equivalent CX6 is great. I'm told by a Sony guy that these will replaced by a CX12, but in Europe this won't happen till 2009 sometime. Sony does this same thing with DVD players and other products - discontinue something everyone likes and make you wait a year for the new model."Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
