Thread on base of Sony camcorder

Anyone know what the thread is on the base of Sony Camcorders? Specifically the HC28 model. Looks a bit like may be a UNC thread but without a thread gauge I can't be certain. Need to know for a bracket for my race car.

Most cameras are 1/4-20 or 3/8-16.
Go to the hardware store with your camera, grab some bolts and start to thread them.
Just noticed you're in the UK, and I'm embarrassed to say that I don't know if you guys have metrics on your cameras or not.

I don't think we do have metric. I took my camera into the workshop a while ago and we couldn't figure it out then after quick rummage and most our stuff was metric. Now I know I'll order one. I'll have a quick measure with a vernier to see if its 1/4 or 3/8. Ta!

try this i have 10 of these mounts that i use for race cars they work great. the company is called IOPORT it comes with every thing you need' i have not found a car i cant mount it in if you want i can send you a link to my videos

In Europe it's also 1/4-20 which makes it quite hard to find threads.. You either have to order them online or have to go to a Harley Davidson store, which have them in a wide variety.. Funny but true.

Thanks for that. Couple of my mates have them, they sell them in Demon Tweeks. Should probably just make use of my discount card there and order one rather than muck around making something.

If you do end up making something - I was looking for a new camera screw the other weekend. Got fed up looking in camera shops as none of them sold one so I spent £2.99 on a table-top tripod mount, smacked it with a lump hammer and hey presto I had a nice new camera screw.
