DougH 270 #1 June 19, 2008 I am going to be plunking down some hard earned cash for a new XSi. I noticed that B&H offers and extended warranty for about 100 dollars... around 12% of the camera value. Normally I steer very clear of extended warranties because they don't cover accidental damadge. This plan appears to cover that, although I wonder if damadge caused by skydiving would be deemed abuse and not covered. Has any one purchased this plan and put it to test? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/find/sagemaxTC.jsp Also is there any reputable dealers for the XSi with a small price break over B&H?"The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
Icon134 0 #2 June 19, 2008 I bought mine from Best Buy using a 12% off any single item through reward zone and then added the accidental damages for ~$130 for three years (or maybe 5 I don't remember which) ultimately I ended up paying less then I would have ordering it from B&H...Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... mnealtx 0 #3 June 19, 2008 47th Street Photo and Adorama both seem to be fairly well regarded on photography forums I visit. B&H is still pretty much the gold standard to be compared to, however.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
freefalle 0 #4 June 20, 2008 ritz camera offers a warranty that covers EVERYTHING but fire and theft. I had no problem getting my replaced when it got handed back to them in a plastic bag.
Quincy 0 #5 June 23, 2008 From experience ... buy the extended coverage. You WILL NOT regret it. Using a camera in skydiving is not using it around the house. They take more vibration ... opening shock ... wind exposure than a normal ground-bound camera will in a gazillion shots. For the what it's worth column, I did not have it on my XT. Big mistake. Just bought an XTi and got it thru a local camera dealer. Worked with them on a price and got a huge deal on a 5 year warranty. Total ticket cheaper than the internet or big box stores. Shop around ... but ... just buy it. Quincy...
DougH 270 #6 June 23, 2008 I ended up not getting the warranty because I went with Adorama instead of B&H, and there warranty didn't cover damadge. I am going to try to get all of my gear covered through my renters insurance instead. I guess I could also buy the warranty through B&H even though I didn't purchase it there.
