I like my HC5 so if you can find one then that's the way to go...Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...

I know for sure the CX7 is crap for sit and am fairly sure the HC9 has the same problems with OIS that the CX7 has. HC5 is a great top mount camera though and has EIS so no issues with shake. It is a little large for side mount but I have seen it done.
Dumpster 0 #4 July 16, 2008 HC5 is probably what I'll get. Deals on Ebay all the time from reputable sellers. Considered the CX series but after reading the thread regarding the OIS, I think I'll steer clear for now. Thanks for the input, folks!! frost 1 #7 July 16, 2008 If the OP's goal to fly mostly feet down - then HC5 is definitely the way to go for HD video. If he is not planning to do much FD flying, then CX7 is a great camera to consider! Little things you can enjoy with it (like editing the video right on the camera, pulling the files from the flash card directly to the computer, recording SD in MPEG format for no further encoding, etc) make your video shooting experience a lot more easier and enjoyable. I love the CX7 so much that i bought another after losing one on a flight, even with all the shaking issues. I also own an HC5
