Digi Rebel XTi and Adobe Photo Elements 4.0 AND RAW

Recommended Posts

I took some pics in RAW mode on my XTi and now realize they come up in CR2 format on my computer...My Adobe program won't open them and neither will the RAW shooters Essentials program I have. Am I just SOL or is there a way to get my Adobe to open these files. OR...maybe some other program I should be using???

Looks to me like you might need a newer version of photoshop elements. Version 4 is only compatible with an older version of their raw converter plugin. Version 5 should be able to open the files just fine.

But I am only going off what I can find on adobe's website.

Picasa ... which is free ... by Google will open them. You can also do some simple editing.

BMFin also has a good point ... Canon's software that comes with the camera will open them and allow you to do quite a bit of editing.

Hey, I really like picasa, but unfortunately there is no picasa for my mac :-( Which platform do you use?
Anyway... Picasa opens RAW images just fine, but it does not nearly offer all the possibilities a real raw-converter does.

So either you look out to upgrade your adobe raw-plugin (and possibly also the adobe software itself) or you might give canon`s software a try...
