Jumpah 0 #1 August 12, 2008 I've read a lot of posts here and haven't found an explicit answer to this question: Are there any HD video cameras from any manufacturer that uses flash media, can accept a wide angle lens, and can be used in any freefly position (unlike CX7, etc)? Thanks in advance!

mrwrong 0 #3 August 14, 2008 Or is it possible that people are thinking a search might be a first step to try before asking in yet another thread? There is a SHIT LOAD of info regarding you question in other threads. Jumpah 0 #4 August 14, 2008 now, now...no need to give a pissy answer. I've been around the block many times and have done searches here, google, yahoo, and in retail stores and there doesn't appear to be a clear answer on a camera that meets the criteria above. And that.. is why I recommend people that are looking for a HD camera to go on eBay and find yourself an HC-1 I think to date that is still the best HD camera, yes it's tape based, but he... Tape has worked fine for the last 10 years.. whats a couple more right? I have almost 800 jumps on my HD camera and it runs like NEW.... I have to admit though I am waiting for the next camera that has solid state and holds up to freefall abuse fine, but until then.. I'll get my HD footage on tape using the HC1
beowulf 1 #8 August 14, 2008 I have an HC5 that works great. I don't know how it compares to the HC1, but I would think it would be better.
Jumpah 0 #9 August 14, 2008 Aye, HC1 or HC5 this is the route I am going now. Again, thanks for the replies
PhreeZone 20 #10 August 14, 2008 Don't over look the HC-3. Once I got a good supply of tapes to eliminate my dropout issue its been great.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
billvon 3,008 #11 September 8, 2008 >I have an HC5 that works great. I don't know how it compares to the HC1 . . . I jumped both on the same helmet this weekend (with all default settings) just to see what the basic differences were. One with a Raynox lens, one with a Century. The HC5's colors were more vivid; they looked a little oversaturated to me, but that may just be what I'm used to. The HC1's image stabilization was far superior. Once I get a chance I'll play with white balance on both of them and swap lenses to see if that makes a difference. (I suspect it won't matter much to the stabilization and color issues.) beowulf 1 #12 September 8, 2008 How were you comparing the picture? Was it just on the lcd on the cameras, on a standard def TV or on a HD TV.

beowulf 1 #14 September 8, 2008 I am a little surprised you would notice any difference in the stabilization. I wouldn't think there would be any difference. Was a very noticable difference between the two?
billvon 3,008 #15 September 8, 2008 >Was a very noticable difference between the two? It was noticeable to me and Terry. I'll try to get two identical lenses, set both white balances via "one push" and do another such jump. Then I can put a clip of both videos up somewhere for comparison. DSE 5 #16 September 8, 2008 They are very different stabilization systems between the HC1 and the HC5. HC1 was an AWESOME camera, although bigger. I still use an A1 regularly.
