jt40ronin 0 #1 June 17, 2003 While packing this past weekend, I sat down to get some info on canopy coaching. The guy I was talking to was packing a VX 97 into a Javelin Oddessy. When he was putting the bag into the container I noticed he did not rotate it? I asked him about this and his was response was that he had never rotated his bag. I was curious if this was something common or uncommon. It makes more sense to me to not rotate the bag, but I cant do that in my current rig. Are there specific containers where you do not rotate the bag, and does it only work on certain canopies?? Blue Skys Jason
darkwing 5 #2 June 17, 2003 I strongly advise you to put the bag in the way the manufacturer says to. Anything else is snake oil. -- Jeff My Skydiving History

dgskydive 0 #5 June 19, 2003 Exactley what the first guy said. Ask the manufacture what they recommend. Anything else is asking for trouble. They do all the testing. There is a reason why they recommend a certain way as opposed to another.Dom
hookitt 1 #6 June 19, 2003 Packing it Grommet to Pin, , is just as affective as the other method of lines to the bottom on lots of rigs. Grommet to pin just allows the bag to come straight off the back and does not have to rotate out. On some rigs, an overly stuffed container, rotating out is problematic. (which of course indicates too large of a main for that container) If the corners of the main container are sewn in at the bottom, then pack it Lines to the bottom. A javelin does not have the corners sewn in, so if it fits nicely, and closes up well, it can go either way.My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry...
