New Sony Prosumer/larger format HDV cams

Sony announced two new Japan-only (for now) cams that some folks might be interested in.
With CF, the Z5 is perfect for skydiving with large format.

It's interesting to read that they still seem to be building high end cameras with tape... I like it..

I'm sticking to HD on tape for now reading about all the issues people are having with the solid state cameras.

I have zero issue with my EX1, which is more or less in the same size class as this cam. In fact, I'm jumping it for a piece we're doing for Proctor and Gamble this week.

The HC9 will be the last HD tape based camera from Sony. This comes from a Sony Channel rep earlier today.

Obviously your Sony Rep is wrong.
The Z5, the Z7, the 270 all came significantly later than the HC9. The FX1000 is also after the HC9, of course.
It may be (and likely is) that the HC9 is the last HC series camcorder from Sony that uses tape; chase down some old threads in this forum, and you'll see that I'd suggested this quite a while ago. But...we'll see at least one more generation of HDV (tape) from Sony this year.

Sorry, I was refering to the consumer level products not the professional series.
The HC9 is still being offered in their catalog while the other HD consumer products using mini-dv are no longer available.
At least in Canada
